[MW:4591] Experience in using A193 B8 Cl.2 bolting

Hello all,

Does anyone has a experience of using A193 B8 Cl. 2 bolting for ASME B16.5 flange assembly  for temperature range of -29 to 450 deg C and pressure class 150 & 300 ?

Please guide me any specific limitations for its application ?
Also few specific concerns are :

 1) A193 code has a note stating  "Austenitic steels in the strain hardened condition may not show uniform properties throughout the section particularly in sizes over  3/4 in in diameter ". But Design Code  31.3 has not mentioned any limitation for same size range.

2) As per  Pressure Equipment directive ( PED ) regulation for Ductile material ,its elongation after rupture is no less than 14 %. But as per ASTM A193 B8 Cl.2 , mechanical properties  Table 2 ,  elongation in 4 D. min % , is ( for bolts below 3/4"inch diameter ) is 12 . Are these 2 parameter comparable ?

Does it mean that, as per PED , B8 CL.2  material for small diameter is not sufficiently ductile  ?

waiting for your replies.

Kind regards

Rahul
