[MW:3661] RE: 3659] PQR for P355 NL2 grade material as per EN 287 and EN 288

Dear Dinesh

We have 3 WPS for same material in our projects. One of them is welded by SMAW E 8016C1 kobe LB 62 L. other one is welded by SMAW E 8016C1 Kobe only root pass & other passes SAW US 36LT kobe whit PF 100H as a powder. Also we have other WPS which root & hot pass by GTAW ER 80s Ni1 Esab & filling & cap by SMAW E 8018C1 Esab. But due to less thickness in our job compare yours we didn’t any PWHT .

Sincerely yours

Hamed

Subject: [MW:3659] PQR for P355 NL2 grade material as per EN 287 and EN 288

Dear All ,

1 >We have a special job to be made as per European Standard and we need to qualify a
     PQR for the same .
Base material : P 355 NL2
Impact Requirement : 42 Joules at -50 degrees ( minus 50 )
Max thickness : 90mm

2>Weld joint of this job also has a requirement of strain relieve anneal treatment.

Please let us know following :
1> Suitable consumable to qualify this PQR for SMAW and SAW
2> Cycle for strain relieve anneal treatment
3> Any specific care to be taken to meet the impact requirement

With Best Regards

Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air // Heat tint

Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel. The heat tint or temper colour formed is caused by the progressive thickening of the surface oxide layer and so, as temperature is increased, the colours change.   Oxidation resistance of stainless steels However, there are several factors that affect the degree of colour change and so there is no a single table of colour and temperature that represents all cases. The colours formed can only be used as an indication of the temperature to which the steel has been heated. Factors affecting the heat tint colours formed Steel composition The chromium content is the most important single factor affecting oxidation resistance. The higher the chromium, the more heat resistant the steel and so the development of the heat tint colou...
