[MW:26193] Waveform controlled welding

I am preparing a procedure for robotic TIG and MIG/MAG welding machine. The GMAW process used is pulsed transfer. Is it a waveform controlled welding?? Actually what is wave form controlled welding?? I found in ASME sec IX that for wave form controlled welding the heat input calculation is different.
