[MW:16850] Welding Repair of 5% Ni steel

Dear Experts,

Query:

1. Can it be possible to use DC power source, using ENiCrMo-6 electrode for base metal containing 5% Ni (5% Ni Steel for LNG tank-cryogenic application) crack welding?
2. Can it be possible to attend repair having following details:
Crack Length=500 mm linear throughout base material
Thickness=13.5 mm
Base Metal=5% Ni Steel
Electrode=ENiCrMo-6, AC power source
Application=LNG carrier (MDMT is around -105°C)

or else have to do patch up (renewal of plate) welding? If yes then suggest to avoid patch up with recommended repair procedure/standard.

Note: As per IACS (Ship Repair Standard) maximum allowable crack length is 500mm & depth=0.5t or else preferred for renewal of plate.

Thanks & Regards,
