Re: [MW:15228] Screening wire cracking

Dear Mr Lassad,

Our inspectors are visited the site and found there is no  problems in the screening deck and assembly of meshes . Our client is using the same aperture and wire diameter combination for a long time.Might be the problem is with the wires what we used for the screening meshes.

We did all the testing including chemical, tensile and torsional all are conform to the DIN 17223 Part 1 class A.Still we are not able to find out the problem

Is there any other reason for cracking ?

Regards

Dear Rinshad,
We have faced this problem before within quarry installation, its whether due to:
1- Wire diameter Vs used type of gravel. Please give the max material size that could go against this screen
2- Rubber special roll, shall be placed underneath the screen generally U grooved type. Hence no shear is stand by the screen's wires.

But if you have faced this problem just after crimping and before any screening use this is purely material Vs crimping inappropriate process.

See Haver&Boecker Process for Crimping, it might be of use.

Dear All,

The photo attached herein showing the wire for screening meshes,we are facing the problem of cracking of wire after the crimping (a process which is to make meshes from wire).

Can anybody suggest any test method to determine the reason of cracking ?

Is it have any ASTM methods are available ?

The standard for producing the meshes are the following

BS 7372:Part 3 /ISO 4783-3 - Choice of aperture size and wire diameter combinations for industrial wire screens and woven wire cloth.

DIN 1SO 14315 - Industrial wire screens technical requirement and testing.

The chemical and mechanical properties are conform to DIN 17223 Part 1 class A.

Thanking you in advance
