[MW:14261] Nick Break test of WPQT (CRA Clad Line pipe)

Dear All,

We had carried out the Welding Procedure Qualification Test on CRA Clad line pipes as per API 1104.

Pipes are integral bonded by rolling and have one long seam.

Please find the details of PQR.
  • Base Material - Clad Line Pipe - API 5L X60, PSL2 + B443 UNS N06625
  • Diameter - 16''
  • Thickness - 14.2 mm (11.2+3)
  • Welding Process - GTAW (Manual)
  • Filler Wire - ER NiCrMo3
  • Welding Position - Fixed - 5G
After completion of welding we carried out Manual UT to check the dis-bonding and found acceptable.
As per API 1104 we have to do 4 Nos Nick Break.
Please note that we are going to remove the CRA clad layer from tensile specimens.
Please suggest that we have to remove CRA clad layer from Nick Break specimens or not.

Regards

Atul Chaturvedi
