Re: [MW:24984] Probe selection for UT flaw detection on steel casting

What kind of casting? Steel casting? What kind of material? What is the grain size? You may have a look in SA-609. You will find this spec in ASME BPVC Section II-Part A (second volume)

Dear Experts
,
Please clarify me the following:

1. How to select right frequency, size of probe  to be selected for UT flaw detection particularly for steel castings?
2. Is it correct to use dual crystal probes for higher thickness [greater 100 mm] ? Is there any selection criteria on single crystal or dual on the basis of thickness, and its  limits recommended - Please provide your answer with supporting reference.

Thanks,
MANIVANNAN.
