As per API 1104, in addition to tensile strength ( If breaks in weld with strength greater than base metal), u have to check the requirement of soundness of weld. say gas pocket should not be greater than 1.6mm, slag inclusion less than .8, in depth, and not more than 3mm or one half the nominal wall thickness in length. atleast 13mm separation in between slag, if above requirments  are met, then it is acceptable
