If you plan to just add more weld metal then this needs to go back to the designer of the beam with full details of what has actually been deposited. Only he knows the loading and has the responsibility for this type of decision. For example if it is fatigue loaded then there will be a difference in fatigue classification and hence design life due to the different weld types. Without design approval any change from the design would be unacceptable and potentially dangerous.

Subject: [MW:23964] How to convert groove weld to fillet?
Hi
In a project the type of weld in the drawings in connection between flange to beam was groove but the welder made a mistake and they executed it as fillet. is there any way that we can convert these two welds to each other ? for example to increase the passes or something like this?
Best regards,
