Re: [MW:11090] Hydrotesting of unfired pressure vessel

Dear Venkateswaran: I think the size of the vessel you are testing have the same "hight" in any positon. You will be worried if the vertical lenght is bigger than the horizontal lenght because of water weight.

Hi,all

One of our 3rd party inspector refused to witnessed hydro test of unfired pressure vessel because the actual site erection of vessel is vertical but we offered vessel Hydro at horizontal due to space restriction. vessel diameter 3000mm X 3200 mm longx12 mm thickness.

Construction code ASME section IX.

What is the reason behind the position in doing Hydro test, what will be effect/reason for rejection if the vessel was tested in horizontal position and any standard says regarding this condition.

Pl. suggest.

Regards,

K. Venkateswaran
