Re: [MW:11143] Use group III filler metal and flux classification for the welding of Group II base metal?

Dear Mr.Mhskar..

best option for this material is F7A4 - EM12K.

There is no exact equvalent for this material in ASTM.. some of the people will refer A 516 GR.70 ..

Dear All

Kindly spare your valuable time & note following & reply me, thanks in advance.

Used base  metal grade :-

BSEN 10025  Grade – S355J2

Yield Strength ---- 355N/mmSq. Min

Tensile Strength---- 490 TO 630N/MMSq.

Elongation – 22% Min

Al Babtain following AWS D1.1 Code  for  welding and  preparing   WPS/ PQR in line  with selection of base  metal and  filler metal  combination for matching strength from table 3.1. in the above case since  the base  metal is  according to European norms and not covered in AWS D1.1  table 3.1 but it approximately  equivalent to ASTM  A 572 Gr. 50 which tensile strength is 450N/mmSq Min.  and Yield Strength 345 N/mmSq. Min. ---- Group II as per table 3.1

However, In  actual for  welding  of   said  material  grade S355J2 we used our  qualified  SAW procedure   which is prepared against  group III  Material ASTM  A 572 Gr. 60. with filler  wire and  flux classification is F8A4-EA3K-A4

Now my Query is  could  we use group III  filler metal and  flux classification for  the  welding of Group II base  metal?

If you have any equivalent grades table please forward me.

BSEN ISO 10025- Grade S355J2 which grade is equivalent in ASTM material

Thanks with  best regards,
