Re: [MW:6008] Is Austenitic Stainless Steel is magnetic or non magnetic in liquid state??

dear sir,as long as the solid solution is austentic its non
magnetic.if u look the simple fe-c binary diagram,above 727c its
austentic but we r making it super saturated solution with alloying
elements. So if u liquify the solid solution, magnetism will be
present as per fe-c binary system.magnetism is basically due to the
crystal structure of iron.at room temperature its bcc and
magnetic,above 727c its fcc,non magnetic,austenitic.above melting
point 1638c iron is again bcc so magnetic.so ultimately if u liquify a
ss material it will be magnetized as ferrite precipitates out.
