Re: [MW:19599] Effect of grinding on ferrite content in urea service

Ferrite content is controlled in urea service , some licensor call for max 0.6% as urea carbamate solution is highly corrosive to ferrite hence these specific alloys (316UG ,55.22.2 ALLOY (i.e 310 modified), Safrux (special suoper duplex),  are used in urea plants.
Up to my knowledge  i do not hear about your concern raised, we have repairs ang grinding only make sure to: 1- use SS tools
2- clean the weld with chemicals to eliminate contamination.
3- use high purity purge gas.

waiting to hear from you.

Dear all
I would like to know what is effect on ferrite due to grinding. I have heard and also practically observed it that grinding tends to increase the ferrite content. Also its not permitted on job. But I dont have any references. Kindly share your experience if any.
