Dear Malusare,
The calibration for UT before testing is more complicated than can be explained in few lines. Some variable which are affecting the calibration are:
- The system you are using - Manual or Automatic
- Related stds. or specs.
- The part you are inspecting.
- Mode(s) of sound you are using.
- The system for data representation (A-Scan, B-Scan, ...)
- Frequency and dimension of the probe.
- Available calibration blocks
and may be some other cases which can be added to above.
Also there is a standardization other than calibration and also some checks (generally electronic checks), which must be done by electronic experts.
But if you mean a simple calibration before a simple test, e.g. weld test, it can be done for vertical and horizontal screen (units and linearity) and check for sensitivity and resolution and also drawing some curves for data evaluation, using IIW, V2, ASME basic, DSC or other similar calibration blocks.
