Hi Andrews, The basic diffrerence between SA516 Gr.60 and SA516 Gr.60N is the plates supplied by the manufacturer with normalize. It Denotes "N". But As per ASME Section-II Part-A,Plate thickness up to 40mm shall be supplied in "As rolled Condition".More than this thickness shall be supplied with Normalizing. When notch toughness tests are required on plates of 40mm and under thickness, the plates shall be normalized unless otherwise specified by the owner. In some cases Owner may require the plates with normalize condition even if the thickness is lesser than the 40mm.In this case you have to follow the owner's requirement.
