Hi Mohammed,
I attached some relevant information for you:-
- GGG 40 is A DUCTILE cast iron, conforming to DIN 1963 standard.-- Refer the first attachment
- It is weldable either with pure Nickel(97-99%) electrodes, conforming to ENi-CI or 55Ni-45Fe electrodes(ENiFe-CI). In the 2nd attachment these electrodes are listed as Gricast -1 &Gricast-11 and Gricast-3 & 31. In fact any other reliable manufacturer's electrode conforming to the same specification may be used. Cast Iron welding is typically repair welding, you should not expect the same degree of good excellent weldability as any steels.
- The last attachment, an article from TWI gives the general overview of cast Iron welding. GGG-40 should be under Pearlitic Nodular welding.
Typically good repair should involve:-
- clean surface, free from oil .grease,
- Buffer layer +1 , with Pure Nickel or Monel electrode.
- Subsequent layers with pure nickel or 55Ni-45Fe electrodes.
- Often you may have to prepare repair procedure depending on the extent of welding involved.
Hope this would you.
Thanks
