The root pass bead could suffer stress because the expansion-contraction effects due to temperature changes, then it is possible that a crack appears. I'd suggest to add hot-pass and a first fill bead to make the weld beads together stronger then continue next day.

1) if you want to continue the welding then you shoud know the temperature at the time you stop the weld.Bcoz at next day the test coupen is coold and thermal changes are occure.so its better to start with new.
