Hi Abhisek, you can qualify a procedure by UT instead of RT and vise versa. Pick up the best method that able to detect defect that most susceptible occur.

Since, FCAW is more susceptible to lack of side wall fusion, RT  may not detect such a defect and hence  UT is the best suited method of NDT to detect LOF.

Why UT along with RT is performed while qualifying a procedure with FCAW welding, At which clause in ASME 9 it is mentioned that UT & RT both has to be performed ??
