It depends on the project requirements. In our current project, we are using a hydrotest pressure chart recorder for both above-ground and underground lines, as per the specification requirements.
If the company requires it, this should be clearly stated in the agreement and hydrotest specification, because it is not only for recording purposes but also involves additional cost.
Please convey this to your Quality Management team; they will decide as per the agreement.
