[MW:843] Re: Thanx & STT welding procedure

The STT (Surface Tension Transfer) welding technique is relatively newer process & at site/ field level people yet to master. It specialise in its ability to provide smooth even rippled weld beads, free of spatter & consistently good fusion. It is ideal for sheet metal applications & successfully applied for root pass welding of open root joints. It has dual benefit of increasing the productivity with overall weld quality.

If are going for the first time, my advice is to get somebody who had previous experience with similar equipment (operator /welder) & good equipment vendor who can provide good technical support for all your initial problems.

Please find herewith the few literature with respect to STT.

To my knowledge STT is approved technique in Saudi Aramco & used in few pipeline projects.
