RE: [MW:5918] PQR (QW-204b)

The qualified range determination is correct.

However, I would like to add that the qualified thickness range(s) for the deposit(s), as determined by QW-451.1, must be recorded on the WPS in order to satisfy essential variable QW-404.30.

The actual deposited thickness recorded on the PQR is not required to be restated on the WPS.

The following is the range qualified for the deposited weld metal as per QW 451.1, ASME Sec IX

GTAW - 1.5 mm to 7.0 mm max (2t),

MMAW - 1.5 mm to 19.6 mm max(2t),

Where t= deposited weld metal thickness,

Regardless the base metal thickness.

Note: Stephen should mention the base metal thickness.

The deposited weld metal thickness can be recorded on the WPS wrt the base metal thickness and deposited weld metal thickness for the said PQR.

Hi,

Have the following question regarding weld metal deposition on PQR with combined GTAW & MMAW processes.

Have recorded both GTAW = 3.5mm & MMAW = 9.8mm onto PQR (QW-204b) but unsure of the ranges qualified

for both and should they be recorded on associated WPS.

Thanks
