The AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code primarily addresses the welding of structural steel components, which may not directly apply to piping.
For piping systems, ASME B31.3 is typically the relevant standard, offering guidelines specific to process piping.
However, AWS D1.1 might still be relevant for structural elements of piping systems, like supports or attachments.
