[MW:34983] High Manganese Austenitic Steel ( HMAS ), SFA 5.13

Hello Sarvanan,

These are the extracts from SFA 5.13 on welding electrodes for High Managnese Steel (Hadfield Steel). You may further search in the web for matching electrode brands and welding techniques. Note these electrodes are for rebuilding, repair, NOT  100% fabrication based types. Some links are as attached.

Dear ,.

- for not getting troubles during welding a low heat input is required as much as you could

- ASTM A 1106 is not listed in ASME 8 or sec 9 ( unlisted material ) .. mechanical testing requirement should be by agreement with client

- u can use EFeMn-F or E   to match the base metal chemical .

- u have to consult the plate supplier regarding the best technique for welding and forming as it is easy for losing the mechanical prosperities benefits if formed or welded in non proper way

Best Regards ,

Dear Sirs,

We are in the bidding stage for a project in Korea and I heard that the material will be High Manganese Austenitic Steel ( HMAS ) and copied the main properties for your review.

I have tried the welding data for GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW , the SFA No. and the AWS Class as per ASME Sec II C, brand names etc in the google search.  But I was not able to find it.

Is HADFIELD Manganese Austenitic Steel , the other name of HMAS ?

Please advise and share welding related info. for this material.

I need to select welding consumables and will do PQR in the near future.

Thanks and Regards,

Saravanan Sornam,

ANSAN-Si,

Korea.
