Re: [MW:34562] MOC-316L ,P-8 ,FILLET WELD PROCEDURE QUALIFICATION

Dear all,

According to ASME Section IX, macro testing is typically not required for fillet weld qualification, regardless of the material specification, including stainless steel like SS 316L. Paragraph QW-202.2(c) of ASME Section IX states:

"For fillet weld qualification in accordance with QW-202.3, macroscopic examination is not required." This means that macro testing, which involves the preparation and examination of cross-sectional samples of the weld's internal

structure, is not necessary for the qualification of fillet welds, even when dealing with materials like SS 316L.

Best regards,
