The Indian Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ISNT), Kalpakkam Chapter, is organising a two day Workshop on ‘Non-Destructive Evaluation of Corrosion’ during 10 and 11 May, 2008, at Hotel Radha Park Inn, Arumbakkam, Chennai. The Workshop is intended to be an intensive orientation course for engineers, designers, executives, managers, students and faculty of engineering colleges in application of non-destructive testing techniques for detection and evaluation of corrosion. I am enclosing a brochure for your perusal.
Corrosion poses serious problems to the safe and economic operation of a wide variety of industrial installations. Today, corrosion management has become the order of the day in major industries to scientifically tackle corrosion. Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) through off-line and on-line techniques has become necessary for better corrosion management. NDE of corrosion would contribute significantly in planning the maintenance schedules of components besides development of risk assessment strategies and integrity management programs. Hence, it is essential for engineering professionals to update their knowledge on the corrosion behaviour of materials and its NDE.
The subject content of NECOR 2008 has been drawn up to address the above issues. Eminent speakers from the industries and research institutions will deliver lectures on 17 topics which include radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy current, acoustic emission, magnetic, laser, thermal and electrochemical methods for corrosion monitoring, corrosion detection and evaluation in nuclear systems, thermal power plants, chemical and petrochemical plants, cathodic and anodic protection systems, concrete structures and in buried pipelines, automation and robotics for corrosion monitoring, life prediction and extension methodologies for corroding systems.
I am writing this letter to request you to nominate delegates from your organisation in large numbers to NECOR 2008. I am sure the delegates would benefit immensely by attending NECOR 2008. I also invite you to advertise in the Proceedings of NECOR 2008 and/or be a sponsor of the Workshop.
