--Dear Mr. Gopalkrishnan,
As per your query, below are the answers:-
- The Qualified thickness range of the WPS with impact testing will be Min. 16 to Max 40 mm (because your weld deposit thickness t will be 20 mm)----refer QW 403.6 and Table QW 451.1
- The Group on. (P1G2 to IS2062 E350C) shall be considered along with above qualified thickness range. ----- refer QW 424.1 and Joule values depends on the Material code/Construction code.
- Yes, but it is for welder qualification Not for Procedure. --------- refer Table QW 452.1(b)
Thanks

Subject: [MW:34785] clarification require for WPS & PQR qualification with impact test
dear expert
we have to do qualification wps ,pqr for the below mentioned materials as per ASME section 9.
Test coupon
SA 516 Gr 70 (P-1 G-2) -Thickness 20 mm
with
IS 2062 E 350 C (Unassigned Metal) - Thickness 50 mm
Code - ASME
Position - 3G
Process - SMAW
Electrode - E-7018
Impact = -20C @ 27J
Question
1) what is the minimum & maximum thickness qualified with impact?(code reference).
2) what has to be considered during and after impact results?(comparing with base metals)
3) Whether Thickness "t" weld metal deposit in coupon should be 13 mm or 3 layer minimum in single side to qualify for maximum to be welded ?
Thanks in advance.Do the needful.
