Mr. SS,
You have not indicated the parent metal thicknesses to recommend the consumable sizes. For a lower thickness pre & post heating is not
required. Towards welding parameters such as amps, volts, gases,  please refer to the technical literature obtained from the manufacturers
of the consumables.

particularly with respect to strength matching and low-temperature toughness. 

My comments as follows:

1. API 5L X42: “GTAW” AWS A5.18 70S-6 + “SMAW” E7018 (or) “FCAW” AWS 5.20 E71T-1C is suitable. 

                         If Ar/CO₂ gas is used  E71T-1M is better.

2. API 5L X65: “GTAW” ER80S-Ni1 + “SMAW” E8018-C3 is a proven combination. For FCAW, use E81T1-Ni1C (or) E81T1-K2C.

3. API 5L X70: “GTAW” AWS A 5.28 ER80S-Ni1 + “SMAW” E9018M is the preferred electrode (or) “FCAW” E91T1-K2C is an 

                         excellent choice.

ER80S-Ni1 is commonly used for the GTAW root pass because the weld metal is diluted by the X70 base metal and the subsequent 

fill passes achieve the required overall strength. However, if a correct matching strength is required, an ER90S-Ni1 class filler is a 

better choice in place of ER80S-Ni1 and may be specified instead.

Also recommend me for welding parameters such as Amps, Volts, Gases, Preheat, Post Heat, Interpass Temps with site links to make these PQRs successful.
