Nb or  Ti , both  form preferential carbide Nb carbide or Ti carbide respectively  than Chromium .
In turn Cr depletion possibility is reduced to the extent of none. Intergranular corrosion resistance is improved.

ER318  chemical composition is similar to TYP 316 with addition of Ti
