Re: [MW:20710] Tube to tubesheet joint with projection per QW 288

Hi! You require to qualify for each joint configuration separately Regards Hegde P.b On Tuesday, 29 April 2014 6:27 PM, Materials & Welding <materials-welding@googlegroups.com> wrote: In fabrication drawing, Tube to  tubesheet joint with 4mm projection. in the Mock-up/PQR, vendor kept 0.5mm projection, but fused the tube with the tubesheet. [MW:20703] RE: 20701] Re: Thickness Range Qualified by Welder - ASME Sec. IX

As of the 99 Addenda there is no minimum qualified thickness for weldor qualification.  The minimum thickness will be that of the applicable PQR.    Remember diameter rules of QW-452.3 still apply.   John A. Re: [MW:20700] Tube to tubesheet joint with projection per QW 288

No I don't think so Because as per QW 193.1 the mock up assembly shall essentially duplicate tube hole  configuration & Tube to Tube sheet joint design.A s you are changing the projection means you are changing the strength of weld required as per design calculation. [MW:20698] Russian air start bottles

Good day gentlemen   I recently did an in-service statutory inspection on air start bottles (receivers ) on board a Russian fishing vessel. These vessels were manufactured during 1989-1990 in Russia. My question is, what would the Russian pressure vessel code of manufacture have been? The markings on the vessel “neck” flange is in the Russian language and makes no sense. Please share your thoughts.   Best regards.     Riaan Stoltz RITC Inspection 083 6405909 021 556 4884
