Thanks Mr Mahaboob,

Now I can use same qualification for dissimilar material as described below.

I have individual qualified welders per BPVC Section-IX-2015, as per following detail:

1. P1,G1 TO P1,G1

2. P8,G1 TO P8,G1

Can I use the same welder for welding of following?

1. P1,G1  TO P8,G1

REPLY:

Read QW-350 will describe you the most common factors affecting the essential variables of process like dimater, thickness, t weld depostions, main factors in your case listed as per below,

1) Approved procedure (WPS) for your dissimilar.

2) Should not be change in F-no (WPS vs WPQ-Performance) same F.

3) Should not omit inert gas backing on the job.

4) Lastly clarity on P1,G1 TO P1,G1 and P8,G1 TO P8,G1 qualified welder to P1,G1  TO P8,G1 disimilar, for this scenario both welders can weld as this scenario will not have omit in backing gas , with same F nos on job and as per QW-423 table.

5) Refer QW-350, 408.8, QW-423 and QW-433

Concluding that if your production ensured with all common and main factorts above, then yes you can.

Can't use because change in P no Nd u dnt hv qualified for p8 to p1. You have only p1 to p1 and p8 to p8.

you have qualified cs to cs and as to ss.

But u dnt hv qualified ms to ss .it's different u cnt use .if I m wrong correct me.

Hi

Pl refer QW-350 for the essential variable for Welder.

QW-351 GENERAL " A welder shall be requalified whenever a change is made in one or more of the essential variables listed for each welding process."

WPQ is not only depend on P numbers, there are other variables are also to be considered.

Pl check your essential variable against your welding process.

Example For SMAW,

Change in base metal  P no is essential variable, i.e. QW- 403.18

Thanks and Regards

Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air // Heat tint

Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel. The heat tint or temper colour formed is caused by the progressive thickening of the surface oxide layer and so, as temperature is increased, the colours change.   Oxidation resistance of stainless steels However, there are several factors that affect the degree of colour change and so there is no a single table of colour and temperature that represents all cases. The colours formed can only be used as an indication of the temperature to which the steel has been heated. Factors affecting the heat tint colours formed Steel composition The chromium content is the most important single factor affecting oxidation resistance. The higher the chromium, the more heat resistant the steel and so the development of the heat tint colou...

Re: [MW:10788] ON PLOT PIPING & OFF PLOT PIPING

Piping systems involved for the flow lines and gathering lines from the well head isolation valve to the production facility or processing plant isolation valve are determined as OFF PLOT. ON PLOT defines piping system in the processing plant and production platform. ANSI/ASME B31.4 applies for off plot piping system. B31.4 allows the use of either API 1104 or ASME section IX (as appropriate). However, occasionally, a very small system such as piping within 500 feet of a processing plant (some client also said 400 feet) may be declared B31.3 rather than B31.4. When B31.3 is invoked, only ASME Section IX is used. before you decide which code to use for welding procedure and/or welder qualification for pipe welding, you have to know the design and construction code applicable to the system. Please read far enough into scope and diagram illustrating the application of either B31.3 and B31.4 hope this helps rgds 2011/4/21 pradip kumar sil < pradipsil@gmail.com > Dear all, ...
