Mr. Sam,

Review the MTC of plate material and tolerance of specific heat / lot number and then identify the thickness of the lowest shell course thickness.

 

For lowest shell course, one spot radiography on every vertical joint.

 

Hope this will clarifies your doubt.

You can refer the api-650 clause 8.1.2.2 a&b and 8.1.2.3 as mention on this paragraph only spot RT for vertical & horizontal in the 1st 3mter and we use the standard in aramco for intersection joints on top angle to shell.
