Dear Experts, What is the acceptance criteria for porosities in Aluminum welds subjected to Radiography Examination? I am having only 3 porosities scattered (1.2mm dia.max) in the entire weld length of 350mm coupon. Dear Sirs,  Thanks for your support. Question:  Preheat of  >  95C (200F) is not used but the weld is made with multiple passes. Is PWHT required for a weld joining P-No.1 materials, when the control thickness is less than or equal to 25 mm (1 inch) but the nominal material thickness is greater than 25 mm (1 inch)?      Answer: Since weld is made with multiple pass so PWHT is not required for P-No-1 materials. Reply ==> Since  the exemption shall be based on nominal thickness . I understand that this case (see attached picture)  PWHT is required ( because nominal material thickness is greater than 25 mm (1 inch) -& preheat 95 deg C not applied ) . Dear Experts,   Please  one of our Customers want to weld Pad Eyes to a Casing and also weld a Stop Ring and a Hammer Union to the Casing. The following are the materials: Casing Material: N80 and it is 0.4” Thick and 9-5/8” OD; Stop Ring: AISI 4140 Pad Eye Material: ASTM A 36 and 5/8” Thick Hammer Union: WECO 2” 1502 The specification for the job is API 5CT. We do not have a qualified WPS to do this job. Please advise what materials we can use to qualify the WPS for this job.
