Dear All  Anybody knows in which section of ASTM heat treatments methods are defined generally? for example definition of annealing  . Because we have received a material that must be annealed but after heating it quenched with water. Dear All, Can we able to make revision of WPQR ? which is made as per ISO 15614-1. I am not sure about this. There are some points which is not added in the WPQR, so I want to add these point. I know the requirement of ASME section IX. as per IX we can not able to make revision of PQR only amendment can be make. Thank you in advance. Dear Srinivas, Selection equivalent steel,you should mainly compare their chemical composition and mechnical property. For checking A36 ,you can find specification ASTM A36/A36M. A36 (Yield strength min.250Mpa,tensile strength at 400-550Mpa) is one most common carbon structural steel grade,the equivalent shall be EN 10025-2 S235JR ,not S275JR ,s275jr steel owned a higher tensile strength and yield strength than ASTM A36. Else,Jis g3101 SS400 steel,DIN 17100 St37-2 ,GB /T700 Q235B steel and ASTM A283 Grade C are also similar with ASTM A36 steel. Regards. Hi Hamid,   Please see the extract from Sec-IX. Refer  Non Mandatory Appendix-H for more details in addition to QW 409. If the power source used is of Non Waveform type then QW-409 a,b or c may be followed. Follow 409.1 (b) or (c) for waveform controlled welding. You may choose one of the 3 stated formula below depending on the power source type. The original formula, QW-4091(a) is the baseline formula for all welding engineers. The other two  were adopted later.   Most precise way would be a combination of QW-409.1(a) & QW-409.1(C)-(2)     The ASME Section IX heat input measurement methods in QW-409.1(a) and QW-409.1(b) , were developed at a time when welding power source output was relatively constant.   QW-409.1(c) more accurately reflects heat input changes when performing waveform controlled welding , but is also suitable for non waveform controlled (conventional) welding.   ...

Dear Syed, Firstly A36 is just one common carbon structural steel,this steel plate can make common tanks,but not pressure vessels.Because,As a professional steel supplier,we knew when rolling A36,no need to do Ultrasonic test,but for pressure vessel used steel,they have to be done Ultrasonic test. Second,your said A234 is one pressure vessel steel,actually another pressure vessel steel ASTM A285GrC is similar to A234. It would be dangerous if using A36 to replace of A234,Freind.
