Dear Mr. Elavaran, 1. Although all three materials are treated as P-No. 1, Gr No. 2 for ASME Section IX qualification, ASME B31.3 fabrication requirements and the sour-service specification are more restrictive. Your project requires welding of
PQR-1: API 5L X65 to A350 LF2 PQR-2: API 5L X65 to A860 WPHY 65 This covers the X65/LF2 combination.
2. Recommended WPS & PQR
3. PQR Tests: Weld-metal hardness HAZ hardness Base-metal hardness where specified Low hydrogen consumables Consumable chemistry control Ni control SSC resistance requirements were specified by ADNOC Appropriate NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliance Any ADNOC-specific sour-service testing.
NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 requires welding procedure qualification for sour service to address weld hardness in carbon steels.
Trust the above details may be of help to you. C Sridhar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
Dear Sir,
Please advise on the PQR base material combination, filler metal selection, and PWHT requirement for 20 mm thickness, as per ASME B31.3, for the following joints:
- API 5L X65 Pipe → A350 LF2 Flange
- API 5L X65 Pipe → A860 WPHY 65 Elbow
- A860 WPHY 65 Elbow → A350 LF2 Flange
All materials are understood as P-No. 1, Group No. 2 as per ASME Section IX. The service is ADNOC sour service / H₂S.
Kindly advise the suitable PQR base material combination, filler metal, PWHT requirement, and applicable Charpy / sour-service testing requirements
