Re: [MW:33099] Pig launcher

Dear Mezrar,

It depends if Client has any Pigging Specification. In one of my project we were going to design as per B31.3 due to piping connected was also B31.3. but later we found that the Client Spec was saying about ASME Sec VIII Div. 2 hence we had to change the design code.

Also the pig receiver design code has to be designed as per the connecting piping code which is by Piping.

Re: [MW:33071] Transverse crack observed after fillet welding

Hi
There is a tendency of Cracks in Fillet weld
if
Set up is not proper I. e  uneven at matching /mating  surface causing distortion
There should be strong tack weld on both ends and on opposite sides
Improper st up causes heavy stresses on weld causes cracks

Hi,
If your valves are capable of holding the test pressure, no need to remove from the pipeline,
Also one should not take advantage of the valves saying leakage at spindle / pinions / gaskets / etc.
Further valves should not get damaged during / after testing, as it has to be in useful condition after testing also.
Ensure that the valves should not partition / separate / isolate the line during testing or pressurization time, especially check valves / NRV should allow the flow during pressurization time (means pressure  pump should be on the upstream of the NRV) and also ensure to place pressure gauges at the downstream of the NRV to ensure that the line is fully pressurised
