Thanks to all for good reply,
Understood considering P1 material wps required to cover maximum thickness as per QW 202.4(b).
But i could not understood why we are not considering the same for SRN nozzle? Here also we are not preparing any bevel on sight glass plate thickness 40mm.

dear team
What should be the range of qualification if we are welding sight glass
thickness 40mm with shell of 10mm?

In this case it's dissimilar thickness and considering its P8 you need 20
mm thk welding procedure which will cover both the range I assume impact
test not required.

If it's P8, won't a PQR qualified on 6mm thick cover the welding of this
dis-similar thickness (QW-202.4)considering welding deposit thickness of
10mm?

In my opinion square tube / pipe shall be considered as plate welding which
involves overhead, vertical and flat welding. Procedures qualifying above
Positions and required thickness may be used for welding. In pipe welding
direction for welding is continuously changing and requires more skill
hence diameter limits are given in code.
