Re: [MW:26048] Towice the PWHT for the same weld joints

Establish a repair welding procedure by running a PQR with double PWHT cycle. This can regularise the thing and convince your inspector.

Dear Experts,

Good day.

Regarding the mentioned subject, we have done PWHT for 2" SCH XS socket joint caustic line. Job was in service piping based on MOC there was heat treatment requirement.

Now problem is that during PWHT cycle due to the power breakdown cycle was uncompleted.  Temperature were reached up to 610°C job was interrupted before starting the holding time.

As per that particular shift Inspector's instruction job was restarted form 150°C and completed the job.

The next shift inspector is rejecting the job and asking to replace those particular fittings (elbows).

According to the above details, Please clarify is it acceptable multiple times of PWHT in the same weld joint or the fittings should be changed.

I hope that I have given enough details and looking for your valuable replies.

Thanks & Warm Regards,
