GROSS AIR LEAK TESTING

Prior to conducting a sensitive leak testing, a preliminary test called "GROSS AIR LEAK TEST" shall be carried out to check the gross leaks in the equipment / system. Air for testing shall be supplied either from a Global Pipelines portable compressor or, from an instrument quality air supply. If supplied from a portable compressor then an air receiver, after cooler and oil separator shall be provided as part of the package. During the test the pressure shall be increased in stages to allow for equalizing of strain during the test and to allow for leak checking and inspection of the equipment / system. Joints shall be tested with soap solution and be examined for leaks.
