[MW:25357] RE: 25355] Regarding design and working pressure

Hi friend,

Pls check it once, HT pressure will be 1.5 times of working pressure, or 95% of the design pressure, but not 1.5 times of the design pressure…

Understand the concept …. (it might be a pipe line, or a vessel)

1.       Working pressure is defined for which the system is to be worked (ex. 100BAR)

2.       Design pressure is defined for which the system is defined, it is always higher than working pressure to ensure safety and considering all the constructional stress i.e we can say 1.5 times of working (it will be 150BAR, in the above case)

3.       Hydro test pressure – should be above working and below to the designed – as your system is designed for 150BAR – you cannot test it for 1.5 times of the design pressure say 225 BAR, test pressure will be always less than 150bar to ensure system safety. or else in extreme case you can go up to 150 Bar – 100% of the design pressure – but not more than that

Subject: [MW:25355] Regarding design and working pressure

Dear sir / experts,

As we know that, hydrotest pressure = 1.5 design pressure.

Then, in the same mathematical way, what is relation between design pressure and working pressure.

Pls help.

Regards

Prasad Rode
