Re: [MW:19979] HYDRO TEST PRESSUREGAUGE SIZE

Hi Binoy ,
The size of the gauge is decided according to the client specification. As per  ASME SEC  V, T 1030 and Sec VIII Div 1, UG 102 there is nothing given except the pressure range. Normally a gauge used is 41/2".

One should direct it to the gauge manufacturing company(ies) on the criteria they use to make their gauges of a particular size?

As per ASME Sec IX, Only thing you need to check is that the welder has welded the particular process for which he was qualified in the last six months and maintain the Welder Continuity Record for the same.

The rails supplied contractor recommended electrodes on the method statement"DIN 8555 :E 1-UM-250" now the same supplier wants to use EN 757: E 69 4Mn 2Ni Cr Mo 12.
Is both are same?

Re: [MW:19962] welder qualification renewal

Hi Kumar,
To cut the long story short.
The criteria for renewal is WELDING PRO CESS ONLY.
Position, groove configuration, uphill downhill, with backing without backing, F no used, material used, thickness,  etc is not a factor to be considered for renewal, however some clients may ask for proof for renewal in terms of volumetric NDE reports, for groove welders. Hence it is always better to have some back up.
Just my 2 cents.

Hi,

I have a query regarding AWS D1.1, Does it allow to write separate WPS for the processes qualified on PQR for GTAW + FCAW as like ASME Sec IX?

Can you share the clause number too.

While does any of AWS spec gives guidelines for Inconel 625 Weld overlay for structural parts?

With Regards,

Re: [MW:19957] welder qualification renewal

Hi
It does not matter whether it is a fillet or groove, as long as you can prove that a welder has welded in a particular process he is qualified, his qualification is extended for another 6 months.

You may use E7018-1 for the CS part and 316 for the SS part. However you have to use a 309 barrier between CS and SS. If you mix 316 with CS you will get hot cracks
