Re: [MW:22322] Welding of Inconel 625 & Incoloy 825

Hi Mr. Samuel,

Cr & Ni values are lower in 825 as compared with 625. Deposited production weld metal deposits shall be within f 12.5 percent of the ranges allowed by ASME Section II PartC for each element.

we faced a problem in weldment chemical composition when using ERNiCrMo-3 in both Inco 825 & Inco 625. If you have the PMI in the weldment, you will get very low  Cr and Ni value  in Inco 825 compared to Inco 625 due to the more dilution property of Inco 825

Dear Sirs,

Noted your valuable suggestions. Hence we are using same filler material for these two materials, please advise whether we need seperate qualification is needed.

Thank you,

Hi!
Generally it is always preferred to weld Inconel 825 by NiCrMo3 rather than NiFe Cr1 (Equivalent of 825) due to avoid fissures like defect after PWHT

Hi Lalu,

Even though the chemical properties of ER NiCrMo3 not fully matching with BM chemistry of  Incoloy 825 , this filler alloy is widely used because of its availability.

Please look into the attached PDS of ERNiCrMo-14 (Thermanit 686) which is a matching filler alloy and suitable for higher temperature service conditions.
Hope this helps…

Dear Experts,

Can we weld Incoloy 825 with inconel 625 consumables ? Since both are under same P number but the chemical combination is different.

Looking forward your valuable response.

regards,
LALU
