Re: [MW:16648] Effect of High amount of manganese in chemical composition

Dear Expert,

As the note b says Mn upto 1.60% max. permitted, pls see the note carefully for reduction of carbon & increase of Mn

For each reduction of 0.01 percentage point below the specified maximum for carbon, an increase of 0.06 percentage point above the specified maximum for
manganese is permitted, up to a maximum of 1.50 % by heat analysis and 1.60 % by product analysis.

Vijay Patre

 ü Tensile Strength:

Fy: 360 Mpa     UTS: 531  Mpa

 ü Impact Test:

absorbed energy in impact: 150 j    (sub size 7.5*10*55) – it was very good

But according to standard ASTM A516(attached) Mn shall be 0.79~1.30 but here   Mn% is over. It was 1.53%  .

I need to know the effect of this discrepancy???

Does it important?

Isn't carbon% very low????????

What is high amount of manganese could be causes?????

[MW:16652] SPHERE STORAGE TANK AS PER ASME "U"

Dear experts,

Kindly clear my doubts regarding sphere tank fabrication as per ASME SEC VIII Div  I

1) What is the size of template to check the forming of petals and fitup of petals.
2) Is it mentioned in ASME SECVIII Div 1 the template size for checking sphere tank profile.
3) Can we refer ASME SEC VIII Div 2 for fabrication tolerances since the design is as per div. 1
Thanks & Rgards.
