Re: [MW:18943] Re: Cut-back length before Re-weld

Dear Ayhan,

There is no international standard / code or project specification is telling to cut the joint with 100 mm each side.
Check the project specification again.
But you have to examined visually & ultrasonic, a zone extending 100 mm from the proposed position of the new field bevel to the acceptance requirements of the appropriate pipe material specification.

Dear All,

We have x60 base material (+3mm cladded with Inconel 625) CRA pipeline.

If there is any defect at the root we have to cut-out.

Company specification is +100 mm each side cut back, that means 200 mm length.

Normally they have to be remove HAZ area 15 mm each side.

When we are sending our material for destructive test they are getting 10 mm away for to get base material hardness.

I am going to Deviation Request but I needed to get international standards reference.

API 1104 and ASME B.31.8 does not mention this subject.

Is there anyone got the related matter.

I will stay looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanking you very much in advance,

Ayhan Gedik
