Dear Mr. Anil
Thanks for your valuable reply. Please heck the below comments
1. Our welders are qualified in 2" SCH 160 pipe, so the qualification range is acceptable for this job.
2. the tapping line is of 2" pipe to be welded on a 24" dia header, and it is very difficult to qualify them in SMAW on a 2" pipe.
Look forward your valuable reply.
Regards,
LALU R.P

If above 2 points were matching there is no need of qualifying again, if not you have to qualify them again to meet the Code requirements.Your welders were already qualified in GTAW + SMAW.2) As welders were qualified in ,Multi process , verifiy the SMAW thickness range of their qualification. whether it is matching with your job requirement.
1) Now just verify the dia in which your welders were qualified,(his qualification range is covering 2"dia )

Code of construction is B31.3 AND material is SS 321. But our welders are ONLY qualified in GTAW+SMAW. So We need to prepare new WPS and conduct PQR, but my doubt is it mandatory to qualify the welders in SMAW on 2" pipe for this job. Please advise. Thanks & RegardsLALU R.P
