[MW:19007] Re: FW: Weld inside grinding

Whats your construction code? Normally codes wont address this, but if your ground weld meets the code acceptance criteria you will have no problems.

Subject: Weld inside grinding

Dear Sir,

Normally tie in joints will be considered as Golden Joints and hydro test of that joint will be waived. the client has instructed contractor that the if the tie in is done by welding a flange with the existing pipe, it shall be hydro tested using a special device called Flange tester. To use the flange tester a part of the flange tester will go inside the pipe beyond the welding. In this case the root reinforcement will prevent the part from going inside. For this the root reinforcement shall be flush grinded. But it's a not a normal practice to grind the root. I am unable to find any reference in any codes or standard referring to this. Please advise appropriately.

Thanks & Regards,
