[MW:18865] Interpretation of clause 3.2.9 in ASTM A123 standard

Dear Members,

Actually, i have a doubt on the understanding/interpretation of the statement of
clause # 3.2.9 in ASTM A123M standard, which says " The minimum average coating thickness grade for any specimen shall be one coating grade below that required for the appropriate material category and thickness in Table 1".

Suppose if the test article is I-beam with the surface area of > 160 square inch and thickness range of > 6.4mm, what is the requirement of minimum average coating thickness grade for the specimen in the said article?. So, according to the Table -1, the minimum average coating thickness grade of specimen is whether 100 or 99 (1 grade below 100)?.

Also if the test article is multi-thickness I-beam (say 8mm flange and 6mm web), what is the requirement of minimum coating thickness grade for the specimen?.

I kindly request you to clarify me in detail for the above. Your support and co-operation in this matter will be highly appreciated.

Thanks/Regards,
