Re: [MW:17479] Radiography aerospace M250 welds

Dear Friend
Some specifications allow the user to use a specify sensitivity and/or higher (as you know the sensitivity of D2 is higher than D4 due to smaller grains), but the consuming time for such a higher sensitivity is also high (and may be the price). So I suggest you just fulfill the requirement of your spec. Spec's specify a film grade regarded to the smallest discontinuity which must discover. With D2 you may discover more discontinuity or defects but all aren't need to be discover as per your spec.

Dear all,

As per specification we have D4 film to be used for radiography of 7.8mm welds
of M250.As an investigation of a defect in UT D2 film was used and it detected
faint indications. The sensitivity IQI is seen in both the films as per
specification. Should we change to D2 film?
