[MW:16777] REGARDING HARDNESS REQUIREMENT FOR SS410S WELD OVERLAY

Requesting Expert views on following case.

Design Code.: ASME SEC VIII DIV.1

               MOC  : SA387 GR.11 CL.1 + SA 240 GR.410S CLAD
               THK.   : 60.0 mm + 4.0mm

Clad restoration by E309 LMO(Barrier Layer) + E410(Subsequent Layers) welding electrodes.

Undiluted chemistry at 2/3 depth from the top shall meet with restriction Carbon Content 0.06% Max., Nickel Content 0.7% Max.Chromium Content 11 to 13.5%.

Can we achieve hardness 88RB (176 BHN)on weld overlay of SS 410S after taking all care of Pre heat(150°C min.),Post heat (300 - 350°C@ 2 Hrs.) and  PWHT (700°C@3 Hrs.). OR  How much we can get?

As per my Qualified Welding Procedure Hardness could achieve Between       240 to 260 BHN.

Please share your experience.

Regards,

VINIT
