Re: [MW:16596] Linier indications observed in Radiography Testing in SA240 310S weld

Hi

No need to preheat.
Such microfissures are often encountered while welding 310 grade.

Control your Interpass Temperature strictly while welding. Also weld with higher travel speeds to minimise your heat input.

Dear Expert,

We are doing SA240 Type 310s material welding with WPS(GTAW) but there are lot of defects of linier indications(micro cracks) observed in Radiography testing.

We are using D&H make ER-310 filler wire for welding. We also preheat the joint up to 80 °C to avoid sudden cooling.

Can you guide me how to avoid linier indications(micro crack) in welding.

Regards,

Mukesh
