[MW:16545] Re: Fitting Material Selection

Hi,

Further to below mail Design code to be followed is ASME B31.4, In the refernces list of the code
this materail is not listed, but still we can use it or not?

Barred Tees are manfactured per MSS-SP-075, which is listed in the reference code.

As per MSS-SP-075, A860 is listed, Please let know how to select the material correctly
or how to check if selected material is correct or not.

Hi experts,

we are looking into datasheets for Barred tee, we got a doubt, please clarify

1. A234 WP91 is having Yield Strength of 6000 PSI
2. A860 WPHY 60 is also having Yield Strength of 6000 PSI

and our line pipe material is API 5L X52, The selected material per Datasheets is A860 WPHY 60

My doubt is why  can't we select A234 WP91 material instead of A860, and how do we usually decide this selection criteria.

and in another project line pipe is API 5L Gr.B and Barred tee material is A234 WPB - W, which are having
same Yield strength of 35000 Psi

Fluid service is same for both the cases, As yield strength is same thickness shall not be a major concern.

Thanks & Regards,
